Mr. Fergal GAYNOR


On 15 July 2022, Mr. Fergal GAYNOR (Ireland) assumed duties as Reserve International Co-Prosecutor following the resignation of Ms. Brenda HOLLIS (United States of America).

Mr. Gaynor served as a Trial Attorney in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) between 2005 and 2013, before serving as a Senior Assistant Prosecutor at the ECCC in 2015 and 2016. He has been Lead Counsel for victims at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the case against Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta since 2012,and has represented a group of victims in the Situation in Afghanistan, currently under investigation at the ICC, since 2019.

Mr. Gaynor holds a Bachelor of Laws from Trinity College Dublin and a Master of Philosophy from Cambridge University. He is a member of the Bar of Ireland and the editorial committee of the Journal of International Criminal Justice.
