Sweden has announced a new pledge of SEK 28 million (approximately US$ 4 million) to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for the period 2012-2013 and is aligned with the budget for the two years. The contribution will be evenly divided for 2012 and 2013.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the Swedish government for this generous contribution, which comes at a crucial time as the international component of the ECCC is facing a significant funding shortfall. This contribution allows the Court to continue with the implementation of its mandate in seeking justice for the Cambodian people without any immediate interruption,” said Acting Director of the Office of Administration H.E. KRANH Tony and Deputy Director Mr. Knut Rosandhaug in a statement.
The new contribution is the second from Sweden since the inception of the ECCC.
