Case 004/01 concerned allegations against Im Chaem. The charges were severed from the rest of Case file 004 to allow proceedings against Im Chaem to be concluded while continuing the investigations in the remainder of Case 004.

* Im Chaem was charged for crimes at these sites by the International Co-Investigating Judge.

JUDICIAL
PROCEEDINGS

The Co-Investigating Judges determined that Im Chaem does not fall within the personal jurisdiction of the ECCC. The Pre-Trial Chamber confirmed the dismissal of Case 004/01.

1,842 individuals applied for civil party status in Case 004/01. While the Case was eventually terminated, the information provided by these applicants is an important source of historical information about the Democratic Kampuchea period and the harm suffered by victims of the Khmer Rouge regime.
