Court
Management
Section
The Court Management Section (CMS) coordinates and provides services to the judicial offices and chambers. CMS ensures that the judiciary receives the logistical and administrative support it needs for processes to run smoothly.
The Court Management
Section comprises several units:

The Case File Officer and Court Officer
The Case File Officer and Court Officer constitute the “front office” of the Section, providing logistical and administrative support to the judicial offices and parties. The Case File Officer is responsible for receiving documents and managing the Case files in coordination with greffiers. The Court Officer acts as a focal point between the parties, chambers and other participants in the proceedings, ensuring that all practical arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of court sessions.
Audio-Visual Unit
The Audio-Visual Unit ensures that proceedings and interviews are digitally recorded in a format that can be stored on Case files.
Detention Facility
Liaison Unit
The Detention Facility Liaison Unit is responsible for coordinating and liaising with the Chief of the Detention Facility, as well as authorised national and international entities. The Unit ensures that the rights of detainees are respected at all times, in accordance with the Internal Rules, Detention Rules and international standards. It also ensures that matters pertaining to welfare, health, and conditions of detention of detained persons are promptly reported to the Extraordinary Chambers and that appropriate action is taken.
Interpretation and
Translation Unit
The Interpretation and Translation Unit comprises Cambodian and foreign translators who work side-by-side to produce translations into the three official languages of the Extraordinary Chambers: Khmer, English and French. Interpreters provide simultaneous interpretations of court proceedings and meetings.
Records and Archives Unit
The Records and Archives Unit is responsible for processing, cataloguing, managing and securing the judicial archive, comprising all decisions, motions, and exhibits before the Extraordinary Chambers. In coordination with greffiers, and as directed by chambers and judicial offices, RAU provides access to records to authorised persons. The Unit also manages the ECCC’s Library, which provides the judiciary, lawyers and other stakeholders with legal literature and research materials including books, journals, and online databases.
Transcription Unit
The Transcription Unit is responsible for producing verbatim transcripts (written records) of all court proceedings in the three official languages of the Extraordinary Chambers.
