Notification of Remaining Civil Parties Continued in Kampong Speu, Kampot, Kep

11 Civil Parties were notified in Kampong Speu province alongside the ECCC’s Mobile Resource Centre outreach program from 8 to 12 July in 5 high schools, namely Hun Sen Batdoeng High School, Kampong Speu High School, Hun Sen Phnom Sruoch High School, Chan Thnal High School, and Udong High School.

Further engagement took place from July 22 to 27, with the VSS accompanying the ECCC’s outreach programme to Kampot and Kep provinces. During the trip, 30 Civil Parties were notified. Of these, 6 were directly met in their villages, while 24 attended meetings at 6 high schools, including Hun Sen Chhouk High School, Kampuchea-Japan Friendship High School, Bun Rany-Hun Sen Chakriya Vong High School, Hun Sen Chamkar Daung High School, Preah Beda Chheat High School, and Chea Sim Angkor Chhey High School.

Civil Parties had the opportunity to tour the ECCC’s mobile resource centre and view posters detailing ECCC’s chronological events. Moreover, intergenerational dialogues were facilitated between civil parties and students in grades 11 and 12. These dialogues allowed students to engage with living eyewitnesses and ECCC officials, fostering a deeper understanding of historical events and ensuring that the past is remembered and learned from in a positive and constructive manner.

Civil Parties are a party to a case and entitled to know the information related to the case. They were notified of the judicial results and the ECCC’s residual function, and provided with the books of summary judgements in case 002/01 and case 002/02 and the certificates of appreciation.
