Judge YA Sokhan


YA Sokhan (Cambodia) has been nominated in 2009 as judge of the Supreme Court.

He served as a greffier at the Phnom Penh Court between 1989 and 1992 and as a judge at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court between 1992 and 2005.

Thereafter, he was appointed judge at the Banteay Meanchey Court where he served until 2009. Judge YA Sokhan obtained a Master of Arts in Law from the University of Metchnikov, in the former Soviet Union, in 1988, and followed additional training in international and human rights law (organized by UNDP a.o.).

In addition to Khmer, he speaks Russian.
