ECCC organizes study tour for 200 medical students to Kampong Cham province to visit Genocide Museum and Win Win Monument

The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) organized a study tour for about 200 medical students at Kampong Cham Regional Health School in Kampong Cham Province, 29 March 2023, to learn and remember the tragedy in the Khmer Rouge regime, the national liberation from the genocidal regime, and the trial of crimes committed during that brutal regime.

During the tour, students participated in a presentation by the ECCC Public Affairs Officer on the trial of former senior leaders and those responsible for the most serious crimes in Khmer Rouge regime and ECCC residual works. The students also visited Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Choeung Ek Genocide Center and Win Win Monument.

The year one students are very excited to participate in this study tour program, stating that this visit provided a lot of knowledge to them through seeing the actual places, pictures and listening to the explanations from the relevant officials at each location. The students also praised and appreciated the win-win policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia, which led the country to get peace and social stability. Then they did not forget to thank the ECCC for organizing this special program for them learn, visit the crime scene left over from the Khmer Rouge regime and see the development in Phnom Penh. Today.

ECCC organizes weekly study tours for students, youth, and the public to promote remembrance and participation in preventing the return of the atrocities such as the Khmer Rouge regime. Since the beginning to 2023, more than half a million national and international public have participated in the study tour under the coordination of the Public Affairs Section of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia.
