The Trial Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) has ordered the parties in Case 002/02 to appear at evidence hearings starting from 17 November 2014. The Chamber has also put the KHIEU Samphan and NUON Chea Defence on notice that it will take firm action should either fail to abide by the order to appear in court.
Following a Trial Management Meeting on 28 October where the Khieu Samphan and Nuon Chea Defence were given a last chance to make submissions with regards to their respective positions regarding their attendance during evidence hearings in Case 002/02, the Trial Chamber has issued a reasoned ruling, dismissing the primary submissions presented by the two Defence teams. The ruling is available on the ECCC website: http://www.eccc.gov.kh/en/document/court/ruling-following-tmm-28-octobe…
