The State of Qatar has announced a contribution of US$ 20,000 to the national side of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia (ECCC). In a letter announcing the new contribution, the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations expressed that the contribution is made in response to the appeal made by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to all member States to come forwards urgently with pledges of financial support to the ECCC.
“In a challenging time for the national side of the ECCC, it is a pleasure to welcome the State of Qatar as a new donor. On behalf of the ECCC, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the State of Qatar for this contribution. We look forward to the continued support from the State of Qatar and other donors in our pursuit of legal accountability for the crimes committed during the period of Democratic Kampuchea”, Acting Director of the Office of Administration H.E. KRANH Tony and Deputy Director Knut Rosandhaug said in a statement.
