Japan makes a new contribution of US$ 1,120,000 to the ECCC
The Government of Japan has announced a new contribution of US$1,120,000 to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). This contribution brings the total financial assistance provided by the Government of Japan to the ECCC (national and international components) to US$ 85 million approximately or 32% of the total contribution by donors, which makes it the largest donor to the ECCC.
Public gallery to reopen Monday 31 October 2016
The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC)wishes to inform the media and the general public that access tothe public gallery of the main courtroom will be reopenedas of Monday 31 October 2016. Access will be granted through the normal public entrance.Having closed the public entrance for three weeks due to flooding after heavy rains in early October, the ECCC is in now in a position to continue receiving visitors to the hearings in Case 002/02. Visitors should be aware that parking availability continues to be limited at the court.
Government of India contributes US$50,000 to ECCC
The Government of India has announced a contribution of US$50,000 to the national component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia (ECCC). This installment brings the total financial assistance provided by India to US$1.050.000 million since the Court’s inception in 2006. “On behalf of the ECCC, we would like to express our gratitude for the support offered by the Government of India,” said Acting Director of Administration Tony Kranh and Deputy Director of Administration Knut Rosandhaug in a joint statement.
EU releases 2016 grant allocation to the ECCC
Implementing the pledge announced last year for a total support of EUR 8.9 million to the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for the period 2015 to 2016, the European Union (EU) has proceeded with the release of the final grant installment of EUR 2.9 million, of which EUR 1.5 million will support the international component and EUR 1.4 million will support the operations of the national component of the ECCC.
Sweden pledges SEK 28 million in support for 2016 to 2019
The Government of Sweden has made a new pledge of SEK 28 million to support the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for the period 2016 to 2019. The amount will be evenly divided over four years.
Sweden is a key financial backer of the ECCC, and it is a member of the Principal Donors Group.

The Government of Japan has announced a new contribution of US$1,221,818 to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). The Government of Japan is the largest donor to the ECCC, and it has supported the court since its inception. With the new contribution, Japan’s total financial assistance to the ECCC will exceed US$83 million.

Australia pledges additional AUD 3,250,000
The Government of Australia has made a new pledge of AUD 3,250,000 to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). With this new pledge, the Government of Australia has provided financial assistance exceeding AUD 29 million. Australia is the second largest donor to the ECCC, and it has supported the Court since its inception.
EU pledges 8.9 million EURO
The European Union (EU) has made a new pledge of EUR 8.9 million to the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for 2015 and 2016. In 2015, the EU will contribute EUR 2 million to the national component and EUR 3.5 million to the international component of the ECCC.The breakdown of remaining EUR 3.4 million will be decided in 2016. The EU is one of the largest donors to the ECCC, having so far contributed a total of EUR 16.2 million since the Court’s inception in 2006.
Revised budget for 2014-2015 published
The revised budget for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for the period 2014-2015 has been approved, and is now available on the ECCC website. The revised budget for the year 2015 totals US$33.8 million, of which US$27.1 million is for the international component and US$6.7 million is for the national component. The budget for 2014 was revised on the basis of expenditures of US$27.8 million, of which US$ 21.7 million were expenditures incurred by the international component and expenditures of US$ 6.1 million by the national component.
Japan makes US$1.39 million contribution
The Government of Japan has made a new contribution of US$1,385,567 to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). Japan is the largest donor to the ECCC, and with this recent contribution, Japan has provided final assistance exceeding of US$82 million, representing approximately 36 per cent of the total contributions to the court.
Government of Chile contributes US$10,000 to ECCC
The Government of Chile has announced a contribution of US$10,000 to the national component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia (ECCC). Chile is a new donor to the ECCC, and made this contribution in response to an appeal by the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, and the Royal Government of Cambodia to all member States to come forward urgently with pledges of financial support to the ECCC.
Seminar series in international criminal law and Human Rights for Law students
The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), in cooperation with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI), is hosting a seminar series on the topics of international criminal law and human rights law. The aim is to increase awareness and knowledge of these subject areas among law students and teachers/researchers in Cambodia, as well as to foster interaction between ECCC jurists and academia, with a view to facilitating research.

The Government of Sweden has announced that it will make a new contribution of SEK 30 million (approximately US$4.5 million) to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for 2014-2015.With the new contribution, Sweden’s financial assistance to the ECCC will exceed US$10 million. Sweden is a key financial backer of the ECCC and is a member of the Principal Donors Group.
Contribution from Norway to be directed to the national component of ECCC
The Government of Norway has approved that its recent financial contribution of 6 million NOK (approximately US$ 1 million) can be redirected from the international component to the national component of the ECCC to meet the salary costs of the national staff.

Australia offers new pledge of AU$ 3.25 million
The Government of Australia has made a new pledge for AU$ 3.25 million to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC). Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Bob Carr announced the new pledge on 18 June 2013. "The ECCC hearings play a vital role in delivering justice for the Cambodian people, who endured unspeakable suffering at the hands of the Khmer Rouge”, Senator Carr said in an official statement.
Norway makes a new pledge of NOK 6,000,000
The Government of the Norway has pledged a new contribution of NOK 6,000,000 (approximately US$ 1 million) to the international component of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC).“We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the Government of Norway’s decision to continue to support the ECCC with another generous financial contribution”, Acting Director of the Office of Administration HE KRANH Tony and Deputy Director Knut Rosandhaug said in a statement.
Accused Person Ieng Sary Dies
The following statement was issued by the ECCC Office of Administration regarding the the passing of Ieng Sary:It is with regret the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) announces the death of the accused person Ieng Sary. Mr. Ieng died at the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital this morning after having been hospitalized since 4 March 2013. In accordance with the ECCC Internal Rule 32 bis, the Co-Prosecutors will determine the cause of death after relevant enquiries. The Co-Prosecutors will issue a written report on their findings in due course.
United Kingdom announces new pledge of £ 1,400,000

Revised ECCC budget for 2012-2013 published
The revised budget for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) for the period 2012-2013 has been endorsed by the Group of Interested States, and is now available on the ECCC website.The revision reduces the ECCC budget for 2012-2013 with US$ 15.1 million. Japan contributes US$ 2.5 million to ECCC budget
The Japanese Embassy in Phnom Penh, on 17 January 2013, announced a contribution of US $ 2.5 million from the Government of Japan to the international side of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia.Japan is the largest donor to the ECCC having contributed a total of US$78.7 million (US$62.6 million to the international and US$16.1 million to the national side) since the start of the court in 2006. It represents about 44 percent of the entire donor contributions to the ECCC’s budget.
Statement by Acting Director of the Office of Administration related to lack of cash flow to pay the ECCC’s national side’s staff salary for the month of December 2012 and budget situation for 2013
H.E. Kranh Tony, Acting Director of the Office of Administration of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, met with all of the court’s national officers and staff on Friday, 21 December 2012, to report on the latest ECCC developments. In the meeting, he informed them that there would be lack of cash flow to pay the national staff, ranging from drivers to prosecutors and judges.
