The Court Report February 2009

The February 2009 edition of the Court Report acknowledges international Co-Prosecutor Robert Petit's achievement in receiving this year's Cox Center International Humanitarian Award for Advancing Global Justice. Ms. Florence Mumba, from Zimbabwe, was also sworn in as international Reserve Judge for the Pre-Trial Chamber. Case 001 initial hearings began on 17 and 18 February and were attended by approximately 240 journalists from around the world, as well as representatives from the NGO and diplomatic community. On 2 February a conference was held, titled "Testimonies of Cambodian Refugees and the Khmer Rouge Intention of Genocide". At the conference, French psychiatrist and anthropologist Mr. Richard Rechtman spoke about the relationship between the dead and the living after the Khmer Rouge.
