The Court Report July 2010

The July 2010 issue of the Court Report features the landmark ruling handed down in Case 001. The ECCC Trial Chamber delivered a guilty verdict for Kaing Guek Eav (alias Duch) on 26 July 2010 after he was charged with crimes against humanity and grave breaches of the 1949 Geneva Conventions. Duch received a sentence of 35 years. The Court Report also acknowledges the visit of US Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, William Burns, on 17 July 2010. Mr Burns led a six-member delegation to the ECCC to gain first-hand knowledge of the work of the Tribunal.
